Breach in Nullah Daik floods villages, crops
Local authorities were busy in plugging the breach with the help of residents of area.
LAHORE (Wed Desk) – Hundreds of acres of crops were destroyed while several villages of Pasror, Narowal, Sambadyal, Kamoke inundated after a 40-feet wide breach developed in Nullah Daik.
Several villages were submerged due to high flood in Nullah Daik near Pasrur. Standing crops were inundated with floodwater while residents of nearby localities moved to safer places.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, there was high flood in river Jhelum near Mangla. River Chenab attained high flood at various places, including Marala, Khanki and Qadirabad. Water in the River Kabul increased to a middle-level flood at Nowshera.
The met department also confirmed low level floods in various parts of the country including Tarbela on river Sindh and Khanki on river Chenab. Torrential rains during the next two to three days could increase the flood threat, Chief Meteorologist Malik Riaz said.
In Kamonki, a breach in Nullah Daik canal flooded the whole area. Local authorities were busy in plugging the breach with the help of residents of area.
Meanwhile‚ widespread rain-thundershower with isolated heavy falls associated with gusty winds is expected in Kashmir‚ Malakand‚ Hazara‚ Islamabad and Rawalpindi‚ Gujranwala‚ Lahore divisions in next twelve hours. Scattered rain-thundershower is likely at central and southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa‚ central Punjab while at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan.
All the main city roads in Sialkot were submerged by rain and sewerage water.
