PPPs CEC decides to defend NRO cases

Pakistan People's Party's Central Executive Council (CEC) on Saturday adopted a unanimous resolution posing full confidence in President Zardaris leadership. The CEC decided to defend NRO-related cases which were re-opened against party leaders in courts after the decision of Supreme Court. PPP co-chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari said that it would not be allowed to surface any Mujibur Rehman in the country. The CEC meeting held in the President House under the chairmanship of President Asif Ali Zardari while Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was also present in the meeting. The meeting discussed the current political situation of the country and the situation arising after the strike down of NRO by the 17-member larger bench of the SC. Federal Law and Justice Minister Babar Awan gave a legal briefing to the CEC on NRO and other constitution related matters. While Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan told CEC that the president has legal protection. PPP secretary general Jahangir Badar the party is united under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari. Talking to media in Islamabad after PPPs CEC meeting, he said that only PPP faces accountability. He said that no minister would resign on the bases of allegations. He said that 1973 Constitution would be implemented in its true shape.
