By-polls: EC gives scrutiny powers to ROs
The ECP will not get the services of NAB, NADRA, State Bank and FBR during the by-elections.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The special cell established at Election Commission of Pakistan for the scrutiny of candidates during the general elections has been closed.
The special cell was assigned the task of scrutiny of the candidates’ credentials with coordination of NAB, NADRA, State Bank of Pakistan and Federal Board of Revenue.
According to ECP authorities, the scrutiny conducted by these departments could not bring the desired results as several defaulters managed their way to polls.
The scrutiny of nomination papers of the candidates for 16 NA and 26 provincial constituencies will start on Thursday and the Returning Officers would conduct the scrutiny process.
