Renowned lawyer Abdul Hafeez Pirzada said on Tuesday that Supreme Courts verdict on NRO case is expected to be announced in a day or two, adding that the hearing will be completed on Wednesday. He said cases against all the beneficiaries of NRO will be reopened after that. Abdul Hafeez Pirzada said the federal government has assured that all the cases will be put to their logical end after a decision on National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). He hoped that the decision will have long term results. Nobody supports this ordinance till today but it was feared that court proceedings could go one-sided. But government also had equal opportunities to defend itself and the proceedings cannot be declared one-sided, he added. Talking to media renowned lawyer Akram Chaudhry accused that the government and NAB are still hiding facts. Judicial expert A.K. Dogar said President Zardari was sentenced to three years in prison under NAB ordinance that is in effect even after NRO. On the other hand, acting attorney general Shah Khawar said President Zardari was not punished under NAB ordinance. Earlier, governments counsel Kamal Azfar had said during the hearing of NRO case in Supreme Court that democracy was in danger not from NRO but from CIA and GHQ. Political experts say although General Petraeus explained that CIA is not working against democracy, the governments hasty measures have increased the tensions instead of diffusing.
