Tax to be imposed on luxury vehicles: Dar
Proposal to slash duty and tax on 1200 to 1800 CC cars by 50%, ending duty on hybrid vehicles
ISLAMABAD (Online): Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had directed to withdraw exemption on tax-free imports of luxury vehicles for VVIPs.
Ishaq Dar said this while presenting Federal Budget 2013-14 in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
The Minister said that however‚ the previous governments allowed such vehicles without duty.
He said the new government has again decided to withdraw exemption on the import of these luxury vehicles.
The minister also proposed that import duty on hybrid cars should be withdrawn.
He made another proposal in his budget speech for slashing duty and tax on 1200 to 1800 CC cars by 50 percent.
