Electricity shortfall exceeds 4300MW

The total demand for power has come down after the recent rains in various parts of the country.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Citizens of Lahore are facing worst ever electricity load shedding this summer with power shortfall exceeding 4,300MW and the duration of load shedding rising to 18 hours a day in most areas.
According to latest statistics, the total power supply is 11,900 MW. The gap between generation and demand has resulted into a shortfall of 4300MW due to which loadshedding is being carried out on alternate hours.
The citizens of rural areas are facing more than 15 hours of loadshedding while in urban areas, loadshedding is being carried out for 10 hours.
According to officials, there’s no chance of increase in electricity production. However the demand is likely to drop due to the change in weather.
Continuous power outage has affected domestic life to a great extent and caused water shortage in many areas. Meanwhile, the traders and business outlets have also been hit hard by the load shedding.
