Two lady health workers killed in Peshawar
Attacks on polio team have become hallmark of the day in terror-hit areas of the country.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Two polio lady health workers were gunned down in Budhber area in the suburb of Peshawar on Tuesday.
According to sources, the incident occurred when an identified armed man attacked the polio team in Budhber village situated at the edge of Darra Adam Khail.
As a result, a female worker died on the spot while another sustained severe injuries and was referred to Lady Reading hospital but could not survive.
According to eyewitnesses, the attacker in black dress had put a mask on his face.
Many children in Peshawar have been deprived of polio vaccination as polio teams are unscrupulously targeted by terrorists.
Following the mishap, security forces cordoned off the area and launched search operation to nab the culprit.
On the other hand, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has suspended anti-polio vacciation campaing in the affected area.
