London police launch probe against Altaf
MQM rejected all allegations against its party chief Altaf Hussain.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The London Metropolitan police Wednesday launched an investigation against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain following complaints by PTI chairman Imran Khan.
According to British newspaper, the Metropolitan police was investigating a controversial speech made by Altaf Hussain from London last week. “The investigation is in its early stages” The Guardian claimed.
The British Foreign Office said on Saturday that it "strongly condemned" all acts of violence in Karachi. It added: "We are deeply saddened by the recent violence in the city, including violence murderously directed against democratic political figures."
Following the brutal murder of PTI leader Zahra Shah Hussain, Imran Khan tweeted, “I also hold the British Govt responsible as I had warned them abt Br citizen Altaf Hussain after his open threats to kill PTI workers."
Earlier, Metropolitan police spokesman Richard Jones also confirmed that they have started investigation against Altaf on hundreds of complaints.
He said the police was in process of collecting evidence.
The London police have dispatched text of Hussain’s speech to the home department for translation in English. “We would see what course of action should be taken once we get all the evidence,” said Jones.
Meanwhile, MQM rejected all allegations against its party chief Altaf Hussain.
