Missing persons case: SC seeks record of prisoners' conviction

Chief Justice of Pakistan says that innocent people are put behind bars without any evidence.


ISLAMABAD (Dunya News):-Supreme Court has ordered the concerned authority to submit the record of penalty meted out to missing persons from Adiala Jail. 


Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan conducted hearing of missing persons from Adiala Jail. Seven prisoners were presented in the court.


Additional Advocate General Naveed Akhtar told the court that two prisoners named Abdul Majid and Abdul Basit were imprisoned for five years along with fine while remaining five prisoners got 14 years jail.


At this, the Chief Justice remarked that the court should be satisfied that those prisoners were put on fair trial under Article 10.


He also added that nobody has right to exploit the liberty of any person in the name of rules and regulations.

Innocent people are put behind bars without any justification or evidence. Who is responsible for the captivity of prisoners who were put behind bars without any justification, consulted the Chief Justice.


The apex court also ordered the concerned authorities that prisoners should be allowed to have a meeting with their family members. The court was adjourned till May 20.
