Regional benches issue: Case referred to LHC CJ

LHC Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh referred the case regarding regional benches to the Chief Justice.

 

LAHORE (Dunya News): Lahore High Court Justice Nasir Saeed Shaikh has referred the case against an attempt to form regional benches of High Court to the Chief Justice Lahore High Court with the recommendation that larger bench should be constituted in order to settle the issue properly.

 

When LHC Justice Nasir Saeed Shaikh resumed hearing of the case, the petitioner’s counsel Allah Bux Gondal told the court that the Punjab government has not consulted the High Court Bar Association regarding formation of five more benches throughout the province.

 

The lawyer also requested the court that that the provincial government has violated the constitution and the law; therefore stay order should be issued against the aforesaid step taken by the provincial government.

 

The Justice Nasir Saeed Shaikh referred the case to the Chief Justice with the recommendation of formation of larger bench that may be able to handle the issue in accordance with rules and regulations.
