Doctors protest torture on colleagues
Doctors have once again closed OPDs and halted operations in public hospitals across the province.
LAHORE: Members of the Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) Punjab closed OPDs and halted operations this time against torture of their colleagues in Lahore.
On Suday, the doctors who had been protesting peacefully for one week decided to take their protest to the inauguration ceremony. Police negotiations with the young doctors were unsuccessful and a crackdown was initiated and 23 doctors were arrested after clash and torture.
After the arrests the young doctors organised a sit-in against police torture and the Punjab government on Jail Road and announced to close emergencies of all hospitals in Punjab.
