Demands stringent action against police officials responsible for brutal action.

LAHORE: Ameer Jamaat e Islami Syed Munawar Hasan has strongly condemned the police crackdown on the young doctors during their peaceful protest for their lawful demands.

In a statement here on Sunday, he called for stringent action against the police officers responsible for the brutal treatment of the doctors resulting in serious injuries to several male and female doctors.

The JI Ameer urged the government to adopt the path of dialogue with the protesting doctors and stop their victimization by way of transfers and dismissals.

He also appealed to the young doctors to return to emergency duty for the timely treatment of those in need.

Secretary General, JI, Liaqat Baloch, in a separate statement, deplored that government was deliberate avoiding talks with the young doctors on hunger strike which was further complicating the situation.

He said that both the government and the ailing people were suffering because of the deadlock between the doctors and the government.

Liaqat Baloch also noted that the Punjab government had so far failed to take any action against those responsible for the large scale deaths caused by the substandard medicines and syrups at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
