Fakhruddin said that it wasn�t wise to malign election commission for the sake of political interest


ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denied all allegations leveled by Tehreek-Minhajul Quran founder Tahirul Qadri over the formation of commission.

 

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim said that the appointment of all members was made in the light of the constitution. He said none of the members have affiliation with any political party. .

 

Fakhruddin said that it wasn’t wise to malign election commission for the sake of political interest.

 

CEC lamented that such allegations ahead of general elections were unfortunate. He requested the parties to cooperate for the conduction of free and fair elections.

 

Meanwhile, Tahirul Qadri has filed a petition for the reconstitution of election commission, saying that it was unconstitutionally formed.
