SC seeks NICL case report from FIA, interior ministry
SC has ordered FIA and Interior Ministry to submit the parawise report in NLC scandal in 10 days.
ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the case for hearing on Monday.
The CJP in his remarks said “NICL case is case of national wealth and national interest. There is need that institutions discharge their respective obligations. Now the orders will have to be issued for return of public wealth”.
Munir Ahmad Paracha advocate appeared on behalf of the government and told the court that the entire amount involved with reference to NICL case has been recovered.
The CJP remarked “Separate charts of all such cases in this respect be framed by you, details of the money recovered be recorded therein parawise and they be presented to the court.
Raja Ibrahim Satti advocate appeared in the court on behalf of secretary commerce and told the court the reply which was sought form commerce secretary had been filed with the court.
CJP inquired who is appearing on behalf of interior secretary. There is much silence on his side despite the fact that half of responsibility in this regard rested with him, he remarked.
Interior minister Rehman Malik appeared in the court and told that he would ensure gearing up the pace of the case. Interior secretary is your own officer. You can call him directly when you will.
The court adjourned the hearing for 10 days more besides seeking detailed report from the concerned institutions.
