Illegal SIMs being used for terrorist activities: Malik
Rehman Malik says government is utilising all available resources to eliminate terrorism.
ISLAMABAD: Talking to newsmen here on Thursday‚ Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik directed the mobile phone companies to provide bio-metric system at their franchise up to 28th of next month to block issuance of illegal SIMS.
The minister said NADRA has issued four hundred and eighty-three thousand Smart National Identity Cards in a short period of six weeks.
He said there are more than ninety-six per cent registrations in NADRA for National Identity Cards.
To a question‚ the interior minister said the arms license will now be valid for five years instead of one year. He said the licenses will be issued after complete scrutiny.
To another question‚ Rehman Malik said he had no link with former OGRA Chairman Tauqir Sadiq s escape from the country and he read it in the newspapers.
