MQM chief says the country cant afford confrontation in crucial situation.

ISLAMABAD: MQM chief Altaf Hussain telephoned to the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and exchanged views on situation arising out of announcements made by Dr Tahir ul Qadri.

Altaf Hussain held the country could not afford any confrontation or clash in the prevailing situation when it was beleaguered by internal and external threats. Therefore, Dr Qadri should exercise restraint and take the course of dialogue in connection with his demands.

Government should also display patience instead of taking recourse to use of force to deal with the situation, he stressed. Government should address the matter with the spirit of reconciliation and initiate process of meaningful talks on emergent basis without wasting a moment, he added.

The Prime Minister while concurring with the pleas of Altaf Hussain said government was demonstrating fortitude and wanted to sort out the matter through reconciliation. Government was ready for talks as it understands it well that a just solution could be found to address the issues pertaining to electoral reforms and other equitable demands through dialogue but no unconstitutional thing was acceptable, he remarked.

Taking the course of force for pressing one’s demands is not proper in any way and everything can be done in line with law and constitution, he underscored.
