Dunya News

Gas has become rarity all over Punjab aggravating the woes of people in chilly weather.

RAWALPINDI/BAHAWALPUR:-The gas crisis has reached alarming proportion in Bahawalpur region which is witnessing closure of the CNG stations since the last 12 consecutive days followed by Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Islamabad regions facing closure of CNG stations since the last 10 days and Lahore, Multan regions since the last 6 days.

Punjab province is hard hit in the prevailing situation as the consumers in the province are deprived of this facility some time in the name of gas load management and some time on the pretext of supply of gas to the industrial connections.

Despite suspension of the CNG supply to industrial connections and public transport, the domestic consumers are undergoing a crisis like situation as the low gas pressure has forced the house wives to switch off the gas burners for domestic use.

The public transport which mainly relies upon CNG supply is at the receiving end at present and it has shifted all the financial burden ensuing from use of petrol to the shoulders of commuters through overcharging.
