We always stood up against dictators: Nawaz

PML-N chief says he faced hardships but never compromised with the dictator.
LAHORE: Mian Nawaz Sharif said this while addressing a reference held to commemorate Khwaja Raffique on the occasion of his death anniversary.
He said it was the PML-N which stood up against the establishment and offered sacrifices for the promotion of democratic culture.
He said he and his companions opted to face exile but did not surrender to the dictator.
Nawaz said that Musharraf tried so many times to contact him but he refused to meet him.
“I have no soft corner for Pervez Musharraf because he pushed towards disintegration,” he said.
“Some politicians had hidden themselves in crisis time but Khawaja Saad Rafique stood steadfast with me in the hour of trial.”
He assured that PML-N would take the nation out of dark ages and bring progress and prosperity in the country.
He said that his party would lead in the forthcoming polls that would decide the fate of the corrupt rulers who have nothing to do with the rights of the common people.
“People are leading a pitiable life while rulers are busy in advancing their vested interests in the name of so-called democracy,” Nawaz said.
He said people want change and would bring change through their votes.
