3,395 licenses issued so far, Ogra tells SC

Ogra and FBR presented reports in the apex court today.

 

ISLAMABAD: A two-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Jawad S Khwaja and Justice Khilji Arif Husain resumed hearing of CNG retail price case on Thursday, Dunya News reported.

 

During case proceeding, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) submitted its record regarding tax collection from CNG stations during last three years.

 

The court was informed that CNG stations owners paid Rs 1.80 billion tax in 2009, Rs 1.42 bilion in 2010 and Rs 1.65 billion in 2011.

 

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) also presented its report before the bench.

 

At least 6,471 license issuance requests were received between 2002 and 2011, Ogra told court.

 

Ogra informed that 3,395 permanent licenses and 6154 temporary licenses were issued so far.

 

According to report, Ogra inspected 1,273 CNG stations, show-cause notices were issued to 380 fillings stations and Rs 10.7 million fine was imposed between 2009 and 2012.

 

Later, case hearing was adjourned till December 16.
