Youm-e-Ashura being observed today
Youm-e-Ashura is being observed today across the country with religious fervour.
Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram is being observed today with reverence and religious fervour throughout the country to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their supreme sacrifices.
Every year, this day is observed to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions at Karbala to uphold the truth.
Tazyiya, Alam and Zuljinah processions would be taken out in all cities and towns across the country. On the day, religious clerics and scholars would shed light over the historical, social and religious aspects of supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
In Lahore, the main Zuljanah procession was taken out from Nisar Haveli at midnight. Tight security arrangements have been made to avert any untoward situation. Sharp shooters have been deployed on the rooftops of nearby buildings on the route of the procession.
Thousands of Azadars are participating in the Zuljanah procession which will culminate at Karbala Gamy Shah in the evening after passing through its traditional route.
The main Zuljanah procession in Karachi will be taken out from Nishtar Park and culminate at Hussainia Iranian Imam Bargah, Kharadar after passing through its traditional route in the city.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the occasion. Large contingents of Rangers and police have been deployed on the route of the procession.
In Rawalpindi, the main Zuljanah procession will be taken out at 11:00am. Agha Syed Hamid Ali Musavi will lead the procession. Two more mourning processions will be taken out from Imam Bargah Col Maqbool Hussain and Imam Bargah Hifazat Ali Shah respectively.
Azadars will carry out flagellation at Bohar Bazaar Chowk, Habib Bank Chowk and Trank Bazaar. The procession will culminate in the evening at the Imam Bargah Qadeemi after passing through it traditional route.
Zuljanah processions will also be taken out in Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Hyderabad and other major cities. Majalis Sham-e-Ghariban will be held in all Imam Bargahs after Maghrib prayers.
In Azad Kashmir, main Ashura procession will be taken out from Pir Alam Shah Bukhari in Musaffarabad. At least 60 small procession from adjacent areas will merge in the main procession which will culminate at the same place in the evening.
Security has been put on high alert in all parts of Azad Kashmir. At least 4,000 police officials have been deployed for security of Youm-e-Ashura processions.
