Immunity to President: PPP finalises draft of Swiss letter

The draft of letter to Swiss authorities was finalized in a meeting chaired by President Zardari.

Government has finalized the draft of letter to Swiss authorities after removing court reservations. A high level meeting Pakistan People’s Party was held in this regard at Bilawal House, Karachi.President Asif Ali Zardari chaired the meeting which was also attended by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Law Minister Farooq H Naek and ex-chairman Senate Waseem Sajjad.Law Minister Farooq H Naek and Waseem Sajjad briefed the meeting about the legal aspects of the letter.According to the sources, the government wants to present the draft of the letter in the Supreme Court in which President Zardari has complete immunity.The sources said that the draft of letter to Swiss authorities was finalized during one-to-one meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.A five-member bench of the Supreme Court had objected on the draft of Swiss letter during its hearing of the NRO implementation case on September 26 and gave October 5 deadline to government to remove these objections.Earlier, President also held a meeting with Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and reviewed the political situation in the province arising after the passage of Sindh People’s Local Government Bill by the Sindh Assembly.
