The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday directed to sell sugar at Rs 40 per kg till the final verdict. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed the attorney general to bring all the sugar stock to market whereas he rejected sugar dealers associations petition filed against Lahore High Court (LHC) decision and imposed fine. During the hearing of a petition filed by the federal and provincial governments, Chief Justice said the rules of business did not allow filing an appeal jointly, adding that government should have implemented the LHC verdict instead of filing an appeal against it in higher court. There are two sides of the sugar priceson one side, there are 170 million people of Pakistan and on the other, all the governments and sugar mill owners are united, CJ commented. On the other hand, the SC rejected the petition filed by sugar dealers saying that the association does not have the right to challenge LHC verdict as it is not registered.
