Rallies held across country against anti-Islam film
Protest rallies were held in all major cities of the country Monday against anti-Islam film.
In Karachi many people were injured when the protesters tried to march towards the US consulate.Police resorted to shelling and baton-charged to keep the protesters away from the consulate building.A rally organized by Islami Jamiat-e-Tulba started from PIDC Chowk and marched towards US consulate.A clash started when the police tried to stop the participants of the rally who threw stones on police injuring several policemen.The dead body of the boy killed Sunday was shifted to Ancholi. Police forced closed shops and petrol pumps.In Peshawar traders staged a protest against the film and burnt the US flag.In Lahore protest rallies were taken out by Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen, lawyers and students.The participants of the rallies shouted slogans against the US and pro-America rulers.They demanded of the government to sever diplomatic relations with the United States.All markets remained in Kotri and protesters blocked the Indus Highway by burning tyers.The MWM protesters in Lahore tried to climb the gate of the US consulate.The protesters, including women and children, chanted slogans against the United States.In Dir Bala protesters became violent and set ablaze press club building and pelted stones on a police station. One person was killed when the police fired to disperse the crowd.Rallies were also held in Bahawalnagar, Tando Adam Khan, Multan, Nawabshah, Toba Tek Singh and other cities.
