NA body summons FM over UN working groups visit

PCNS on Thursday expressed concerns over the visit of UN working group.

A meeting of Parliamentary Committee for National Security headed by its chairman Senator Raza Rabbani held in Islamabad on Thursday.The PCNS expressed grave concern over UN Working Group on enforced or involuntary disappearances visit to Pakistan.The committee summoned foreign minister, foreign secretary, interior minister or home secretary in next session to seek briefing from them on motives of UN working group visit to Pakistan and who allowed the group for undertaking visit to the country.The members were of the view that Pakistan was a sovereign state and any interference in its internal affairs could not be tolerated. They stressed that explanation be sought from the respective ministries on this issue.The meeting could not finalise the recommendations of the committee regarding missing persons.Chairman of the committee Mian Raza Rabbani said committee was an independent and sovereign body and it takes its decision on its own freely. He said there was no pressure on the committee regarding the issue of missing persons issue.
