MQM chief Altaf Hussain has said that factory mishap is a national tragedy.
Addressing the party workers at the MQM’s relief camp on telephone, Altaf Hussain demanded the government to provide the state of the art machinery to the workers currently engaged in rescue and relief efforts in the factory.He also demanded a committee comprising experts be formed to take stock of the arrangements at all factories.The garment factory located on Hub River Road in Baldia Town area of the city, was fully gutted by a fire and claimed over 212 lives in 18 hours. The fire has been put out today and cooling process is in progress.On the occasion, the MQM chief offered condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims who were burned down at the garment factory that employed over 450 workers.Meanwhile, parliamentary leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar offered condolences to the bereaved family members and vowed action against the culprit whose negligence caused the huge fire.Talking to media while visiting the fire site, he said justice will be done to the affected families and action will be taken against those responsible for massive conflagration that claimed at least 166 lives. Most bodies are torched beyond recognition.
