The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Tuesday to hold by-elections across the country on November 7. The by elections are going to be held for three Provincial and three National Assembly seats including NA-55 Rawalpindi, NA-123 Lahore, NA-271 Kharan, PP-82 Jhang, PP-284 Bahawalnagar and PP-25 Jaffarabad. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed contesting from NA-55 Rawalpindi had filed application with the chief election commissioner to conduct by-polls. The counselor of the government of Punjab had filed application to keep the by-elections postponed due to the law and order situation but Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Hamid Ali Mirza rejected their point of view and said that situation in the country was not extremely disturbed that legal procedures could not be fulfilled.
