Punjab CM protested over giving 700 megawatts of Punjab share of electricity to Karachi.
A meeting of Council of Common Interest chaired by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf was held in Islamabad on Wednesday.The Council of Common Interest unanimously passed a resolution proposed by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif stating that the meeting of Council of Common Interest expresses concern over the situation arising out of the shortage of electricity and consequent load shedding in the country and believes that efforts be made to resolve this crises in an effective and result oriented manner.The council formed a committee headed by Federal Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar to look into the issue. The committee has been directed to submit its recommendations to the council within a week.Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister said that 3300mewatts of electricity has been included in the national grid system.Talking to Dunya News on his arrival in Lahore after attending the meeting, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said he protested against shifting 700 megawatts of electricity of Punjab to KESC.He said he cannot see Punjab’s people burning in scorching heat and discrimination with Punjab must be stopped.
