Arsalan Iftikhar has filed a review petition against Supreme Court verdict.
The Supreme Court on June 14 disposed of suo motu notice regarding the alleged graft case against Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, ordering the Attorney general to take strict legal action against Arsalan, Malik Riaz and Riaz’s son-in-law Salman Ali Khan according to the law as “they might have committed illegal acts”.However, Arsalan Iftikhar, son of chief justice, filed a review petition against the verdict on Friday.In his review petition, Arsalan Iftikhar stated that Supreme Court directed attorney general to contact government departments to carryout transparent investigation. However, the attorney general has forwarded the case to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after misinterpreting court’s verdict.Arslana Iftikhar requested to form a judicial commission as he doesn’t trust the investigation departments of government.Objecting to one of the members of joint investigation team, Kausar Iqbal, Iftikhar said he had good terms with the owners of Bahria Town, adding that he is a resident of Bahria Town and doesn’t have good history too. Moreover, Arsalan Iftikhar said the son-in-law of Malik Riaz is a British national due to which investigation team cannot inquire him.A two-member bench headed by Justice Jawad S. Khawaja issued verdict in Arsalan graft case on June 14.
