Ministry of Science reprimanded for not using funds

Ministry for Science and Technology was reprimanded for not using funds of Rs 460 million.

The meeting of Public Accounts Committee headed by chairman Nadeem Chan was held here on Wednesday in the parliament where the report of saving funds allocated for national scientific projects was produced.The committee members said that some people very often complaint about shortage of funds for science and technology but it is very deplorable to say that funds allocated for this purpose have not been utilized properly. It is sheer incompetency of the Ministry for Science and Technology.The committee has decided to seek progress report of the ministry within a week.The committee also has ordered recovery of Rs 7,00,000 allocated for bogus legal advisor in the Pakistan Science Foundation.The OPF officials made it clear in the meeting that no decision has taken regarding privatization of academic institutes.
