SC resumes dual-nationality case hearing

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court is hearing dual-nationality case.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif resumed hearing of dual nationality case on Monday.The apex court during previous hearing suspended the National Assembly membership of PPP MNA Zahid Iqbal, after his British nationality was proved while PML-N MNA Malik Jameel Awan confessed to have Dutch nationality.The Supreme Court has so far suspended membership of Farah Naz Ispahani, Rehman Malik, Amna Buttar, Dr Ahmad Ali Shah and Akhlaq Ahmad over dual-nationality.A contempt of court proceeding against Attorney General Irfan Qadir and Adviser on Interior Rehman Malik will also be initiated for not implementing court orders in the same case.
