PM Pervaiz Ashraf chairs cabinet meeting

Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is chairing the very first meeting of his Cabinet on Tuesday.

The meeting will be focusing on the issue of power crisis in the country and discuss ways and means to overcome the same, sources said.Law and order situation will also be reviewed at the meeting of the Federal Cabinet.Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister on Monday.Reports said that the position had been created to provide a backup for the times when the incumbent prime minister is not available or incapacitated. “Pervaz Elahi would not be authorized to use the powers of Prime Minister,” they said.Fifteen MPs of PML-Q also took oath as federal ministers and ministers of state on Monday.President Asif Ali Zardari administered oath to the newly inducted cabinet members at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.With the induction of 15 -PML-Q ministers the total number of federal cabinet has reached 53.The MPs who took oath as federal ministers included Ch Wajahat Hussain, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Ghaus Bakhash Mehar, Sardar Bahadur Khan Sehar, Anwar Cheema, Jam Muhammad Yousaf, Talib Nakai and Liaqat Bhatti.While, Sardar Shahjahan Yousuf, Khawaja Sheraz Mehmood, Akram Maseh Gill, Asif Tauseef, Saed Khan Mandokhel, Nauman Ahmad Langerial and Chaudhry Riaz Ahmad took oath as ministers of state.In the meanwhile the government also issued notification regarding the appointment of six advisers to Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf. The advisers include Hamid Yar Hiraj, Hassan Leghari, Syed Qasim Shah, Mir Muhammad Naseer Khan Mengal, Chaudhry Imtiaz Ranjha and Shehnaz Wazir Ali.
