PPP will not allow anyone to derail democracy: PM

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Gilani has said that PPP will foil all efforts against democracy.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Gilani while addressing a public gathering in Mardan has said that the undemocratic forces are busy in hatching conspiracies against democracy in country, adding PPP will not allow anyone to derail democracy because PPP leaders rendered sacrifices for strengthening of democracy.He said that the PPP will foil all efforts against democracy with the support of masses as it did in past.He said that the PPP had rendered great sacrifices for the cause of democracy including lives of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and late Benazir Bhutto and it would defend the cause of democracy at all costs.PM Gilani said that the government also strengthened institutions by restoring the 1973 Constitution to its original form adding that those who were alleging that the government was not respecting the institutions forgot that the PPP struggled for rights of the people when they were sitting in Jeddah.He said that the presence of large number of people in the public gathering instead of the bad weather has proved that the PPP is the biggest party of the country.Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said it is honour of the present Government to have become the longest serving democratic government and it presented its fifth budget this year. He said attempts were made to stop Senate elections, by-elections and presentation of the 5th budget but all such attempts were foiled with the cooperation of workers.He said the PPP Government is committed to provide employment to youth and empower women.He paid tributes to people of Mardan for the spirit of brotherhood they demonstrated during IDPs crisis.The Prime Minister said with the efforts of the government, the IDPs were sent to their homes within 90 days. He said Mardan is the Larkana for the PPP, wherefore, it has been doing development projects for the area.The Prime Minister said the government has been working on various development projects in the area at the cost of rupees 96 crore that include rupees 21 crore for electricity, rupees 40 crore for gas, rupees 14 crore for roads and other projects.He said over one billion rupees have been disbursed through Benazir Income Support Programme and 100,000 people got benefit. He said it is the policy of the PPP government that terminated employees of Nawaz Sharif government were reinstated and contractual employees of Musharraf government have been regularised.The Prime Minister said remaining terminated and contractual employees will also be regularised. He said Benazir Bhutto promised to provide jobs, so the government has announced to generate one lakh jobs in next budget.On this occasion, the Prime Minister announced construction of Takht Bhai fly over and reinstatement of dismissed employees. He said the Government has spent huge amounts on projects relating to provision of electricity, gas and construction of roads in Mardan besides provision of assistance to the poor under Benazir Income Support Programme.
