Legendary ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan was laid to rest in Karachi on Friday.

The funeral prayer of legendary ghazal singer was offeredat the Noorani Mosque near the Ancholi area in Karachi on Friday.A large number of people including members of Sindh Assembly and fans of the great singer attended the funeral prayer.After the funeral prayer, the ghazal king was laid to rest At Shah Muhammad Shah graveyard in north Karachi.Karachi Municipal Corporation had made all arrangements for the funeral and burial of the ghazal king.Earlier, MQM leader Raza Haroon along with Mehdi Hassan’s son Asif Mehdi visited the graveyard to see the arrangements made at the place of grave.Asif Mehdi told that his family was satisfied over the arrangement of his father’s burial.On the other hand, friends and fans are of Mehdi Hassan are visiting the resident of the great singer to condole with his family.Mehdi Hassan’s daughter-in-law said the legend singer will remain in the hearts and minds of the family and friends for ever.The legendary ghazal singer passed away on Wednesday after protracted illness at the age of 85. Mehdi Hassan was born in Luna village in Rajasthan in 1927. His father Ustad Azeem Khan and uncle Ustad Ismail Khan were renowned classical musicians.He acquired early training in music from them. After his family migrated to Pakistan, Mehdi Hassan tried his hand at a few professions but once he started getting acknowledgement as a singer, he decided to adopt it as a career.
