Power shortfall has reached to 6423 MW due to shortage of oil and gas.
Owing to the low supply of fuel and gas to power plants, the current power generation remains 11511 MW while the electricity shortfall has jumped to6423, further aggravating the crisis in the country.Currently, Hydel power plants are generating up to 4527 MW, Thermal 1267 MW and 5717 MW electricity is being supplied by IPP’s.However, the IPPs and Thermal plants are producing 3000 MW of electricity less than their capacity due to which the unannounced loadshedding has been increased.Meanwhile, the electricity of urban areas has been cut for 12 hours while power remained cut for 18 hours in the rural areas.
