Electricity deficit touches 6400MW

Countrywide electricity demand has exceeded 18,000 megawatt.

The electricity shortfall has reached 6400 megawatt due to technical problems at power houses. The authorities have expressed concerns over massive tripping amid increased electricity consumption due to severe heatwave.According to details, the generation of electricity is 11,832 megawatt while requirement is 18,232 megawatt.In Lahore along with other cities, power outages have been increased to 14 hours while in villages it has reached to 20 hours.Because of power outages and severe heat wave in many parts of the country, several areas are facing water shortages as well.
