Gas LPG marketing companies have increased price by Rs5-6 per kg after depletion surplus reserves.

Patron-in-Chief All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association & Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on LPG Abdul Hadi Khan Friday said after this increase, LPG will be sold at Rs 95-96 per kilo in Karachi, Rs96-97 per kilo in Lahore, Rs99-100 per kilo in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa & Peshawar, and Rs105-107 per kilo in Northern Areas, FATA, Mansehra, Batgram and AJK.Price of 11.8 kg cylinder was enhanced by Rs50-60 to Rs970-980 in Karachi, Rs1020-1030 in Lahore, Rs1168-1180 in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa and Rs1240-1262 inNorthern Areas, FATA, Batgram & AJK Price of 45.4 kg cylinder decreased by Rs210 to Rs3732 in Karachi, Rs3924 in Lahore, Rs4495 in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa and Rs4858 in Northern Areas, FATA, Batgram & AJK.He said LPG sale had been doubled in last one month due to decline in prices, but soon after depletion of surplus reserves, marketing companies increased LPG prices, which is again a matter of concern. He said due to 5 to 7 time price cuts, LPG has come in reach of common user and its sales surged to 80%.However, producers did not enhance their production in accordance with the rise in sale and marketing companies got opportunity to raise price on pretext of supply shortages. He said unexpected price rise created problems for LPG distributors and consumers.Hadi feared prices might further go up as producers were not willing to increase their production. There are clear indications that LPG sales will come down in the country. He said current energy crisis could be handled with help of locally produced LPG. But, there is need to bring down LPG price to make it available to consumers and also as substitute fuel for automobiles
