Memo case: Application to summon Pasha as witness rejected

The Memo Commission on Thursday rejected the application for summoning former ISI chief as witness.

The Judicial Commission headed by Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Esa resumed the hearing of the memo case at Islamabad High Court on Thursday.The commission rejected application of seeking former ISI chief Lt. Gen (R) Ahmad Shuja Pasha to appear before commission as a witness.First session of the hearing was held in camera in which the Director and Deputy Director of Foreign Office Pakistan briefed the commission regarding alleged use of secret diplomatic funds by former Ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani last year.The commission expressed its lack of confidence over the written note submitted by Hussain Haqqani regarding the utilization of secret diplomatic funds.During the open session, of Hussain Haqqani’s counsel Zahid Bukhari requested the commission to hand over him the video record of commission proceedings. Lawyer of Mansoor Ijaz, Akram Sheikh objected the request and said Haqqani is not following the proceedings and is blaming the courts.Zahid Bukhari said he has submitted details of the use of secret diplomatic funds to the commission but commission regarded it as only a piece of paper.
