Chief Justice said public awareness needed before election campaigns.

The Supreme Court heard a petition against election expenditure on Wednesday.During case proceedings, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked 25 percent votes are must for the successful candidate.He further said political parties should initiate public awareness before starting election campaigns.Justice Khilji Arif Hussain said political parties only aim to rule the state instead of addressing public issues.Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also criticised government over failing to implement court orders including NRO and Karachi target killing cases, adding that the court will accept any petition filed against armed political wings.
