Power shortfall has reached 4300 MW as rural areas are facing loadshedding for more than 12 hours.
According to the PEPCO spokesman, total production of electricity power is 10,552 MW while its consumption is 14,852 MW.Production of hydel power is only 703 MW due to deadly down surface of water in Tarbela and Mangla dams. Thermal plants are generating only 1,841 while IPPs by 6,000 MW.According to PEPCO, urban areas are bound to face loadshedding for more than nine hours while rural areas for 12 hours.All the socio economic activities are stagnant as macro and micro industry has been closed due to lack of electricity. All the tall claims of rulers have proved zero as they have no proper and comprehensive program to end loadshedding in the country.Last day, PM Gilani along with CMs of all the four provinces held a joint press conference after National Energy Conference where they agreed that all the provinces would have to face loadshedding on equal basis.
