PIC spurious drugs case: SC seeks Punjab govt report in 3 days

The SC has sought the report of PIC drugs case within three days from the Punjab government.

Two member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Tasadduq Jilani and Justice Saqib Nisar heard the spurious medicine scandal case on Monday.The SC issued contempt notice against Additional IG Aslam Tareen over arresting nine persons of pharmaceutical company violating the court orders in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology’s spurious medicine scandal case.Khalid Ranjha, counsil of a pharmaceutical, took the stance that the SC on January 30 had ordered the police not to make arrests but Lahore’s Shadman Police arrested 9 people who had come from Karachi for cooperating in the investigations.On query by the court, the SHO concerned said that he was aware of the court order but the Additional IG ordered to arrest these these persons were arrested on the directive ofThe court ordered to present all the arrested persons before the Magistrate in Lahore on Tuesday.The court sought the latest investigation report of the case from the Punjab government and adjourned the hearing for three days.
