Pakistan not to compromise on its sovereignty: FO

Foreign Office on Thursday stated that Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty.

Addressing his weekly press briefing here, Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit said that both Pakistan and the United States want improvement in bilateral relations and that Islamabad remains committed in the global fight against terrorism. However, he added, there would be no compromise where the sovereignty of the country is concerned.The spokesman said that Pak-US relations hold immense significance, adding, new rules of bilateral engagement will be based on the recommendations of the joint session of the parliament.While the joint session of the parliament is holding debate on reviewing Pak-US relations, which strained after the May 2010 Salala check-post attack, two US commanders on Wednesday met with military chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani to mend ties and discuss a new mechanism of border coordination procedures.
