SC adjourns hearing of election expenditure case

The SC has adjourned the hearing of a petition about the election expenditure till April 9.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a petition about the election expenditure till the 9th of next month. Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry headed the bench.The petition was filed by the Chief of PML-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to make a transparent check the Election expenditures by the candidates and to make the Election Commission independent.Later, talking to media in the Supreme Court premises Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that the politicians conceal truth about their election expenditures. He said we also want to abolish secret balloting system in the Senate elections to control malpractices.Secretary General PML-Q Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed said that they fully respect all the national institutions. He said we want to enhance the capacity of Election Commission and make it an independent body.
