Karachi: Police use force against protesting nurses
The nurses were protesting when police attacked them with batons and water guns.
The protesting nurses were demanding salary increment in the wake of neck-breaking inflation and were heading towards the Governor’s House when police used water cannon and tear gas shells to disperse them.Calling for government allowances and other incentives, the paramedical staff, including hundreds of nurses, from the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) and other hospitals gathered outside the Karachi Press Club.The riot police barred the demonstrators from moving towards the neighboring Governor House, using the water canon teargas shells.Many of the protestors also fell unconscious when police baton charged them.
