Committee probes incidence of vision loss due to injection

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The health authorities have constituted a five-member committee to investigate reports of loss of vision among several people after administration of an injection.
The incidents of loss of vision have been reported in Lahore and Kasur where doctors administered Avastin injection which turned out to be tainted.
Taking action on Dunya News story, the health authorities sprang into action and ordered a probe into suspicion of adulteration in the medicine injected among people.
They formed a committee, headed by eye specialist Dr Asad Aslam, to come up with a report on the issue.
The Punjab Primary Healthcare Department has issued an alert asking people to be careful while using eye medicines.
Caretaker Federal Health Minister Nadeem Jan said the committee would investigate the case from all angles. He said they were in coordination with the provincial authorities as well.
Minister for Primary Health Dr Jamal Nasir said the stock of medicine had been withdrawn from all medical stores.
Several people lost their vision when they were administered injection in Lahore and Kasur health facilities.
