Govt hasn't stopped private organisations from flood relief activities: Azma
Says people spreading false propaganda in this regard
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said on Wednesday that no private organization or individual has been stopped from distributing food among flood victims.
In a statement, Azma Bokhari said that the Punjab government has only instructed that before distributing food, it should be checked by the district administration and the food authority, as there were complaints in some places about substandard food being distributed by private individuals.
She added that some people are spreading false propaganda in this regard. These instructions have been issued to protect the health of flood victims, as there is a risk of diseases spreading after the floods.
The provincial minister said that this should not be used for political point-scoring. She added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is personally visiting affected areas so that the administration realizes there is accountability, and people know that their CM is standing with them at all times.
