News of Lahore Motorway rape victim's ATM card being used by criminals declared fake
LAHORE (Dunya News) - A fake twitter account of Inspector General (IG) Punjab Inam Ghani has been spreading misinformation on social media regarding the recent Motorway rape incident.
After the incident was reported and a national outcry initiated, IG Punjab Inam Ghani said that all possible resources would be utilized and the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, a fake account in the name of Inspector General Punjab Inam Memon tweeted that a big development has been made in the investigation of the motorway rape incident. It wrongly stated that two people, who had used the victim’s ATM card, have been arrested.
The tweet further said that the suspects tried to transact cash from an ATM and after their arrest, their DNA samples were taken and now the results are awaited.
IG Punjab Inam Ghani clarified to the media said that no such progress has been made in the case, saying that someone who has created a fake account in his name is spreading misinformation.
Similarly, focal person Zeeshan Asghar from Sialkot has also denied the development.
The IGP, on his original twitter account, said that he only has one official account. He also advised that any such tweet or piece of information should first be verified through official channels before it is propagated to the public.
