(Web Desk) - Pakistani film actor Meera has been sent back to the United States after Canadian immigration authorities stopped her at the Niagara border and denied her entry

Meera, whose real name is Syeda Irtiza Rubab, was travelling from New York to Canada to attend a show when immigration officials detained her for questioning for several hours before sending her back to the US.

The reason behind the latest immigration action remains unclear.

The actor had previously travelled to Calgary to promote her film Psycho and perform on stage.

Meera has faced immigration-related difficulties in other countries as well. British authorities previously denied her entry to the United Kingdom and imposed a 10-year ban on her, following questioning at Heathrow Airport.

Although the 10-year ban has since expired, Meera continued to encounter problems obtaining a British visa. Her subsequent application was rejected after her travel agent allegedly submitted incorrect information, prompting British authorities to cite false representations.

In July 2025, the actor appealed publicly to the British government for a visa to visit her sister, who was receiving cancer treatment in London. Meera said her family and home were in London and that the immigration dispute had prevented her from visiting them for several years.

The actor, who holds a US Green Card, has frequently travelled to the United States for personal and professional engagements.
