Summary “If a man marries an 18-year-old girl, everyone is okay with it, but the second she marries someone younger than her, society shames her," he said.
(Web Desk) - Actor Bushra Ansari’s husband, Iqbal Hussain, trended this week after speaking out against societal criticism of his wife for marrying a younger man, drawing attention to the culture of judgment prevalent in Pakistani society.
The actor and director appeared on Mazaq Raat, a Dunya TV show, to discuss what he described as double standards surrounding marriage in Pakistan, particularly the criticism his wife faced for marrying a younger man.
“If a man marries an 18-year-old girl, everyone is okay with it, but the second she marries someone younger than her, society shames her," he said.
Discussing the couple’s own experience, Hussain noted that although there is a small age gap, it has not affected their relationship. “There is a small age gap but it has not affected me personally. Rather, society goes to shame the woman regardless of her status, even being Bushra Ansari, she has to worry about it."
He added, “This is the dilemma in the society, the judgement they make day and night. I think the direction of society is going in a way where we all judge each other but on the Day of Judgement, it will all come back to us."
Hussain concluded by saying, “I may not be able to see the good you do, but your bad deeds will be written on a wall."
Many fans took to the comments to praise Hussain’s remarks and his support for his wife.
