Summary Referring to Firdous Jamal, she said a talented actor is not necessarily a good person

(Web Desk) - Senior actor Shaista Jabeen recently appeared on a morning show alongside Nadia Khan and Zohaib Hassan, where she addressed veteran actor Firdous Jamal’s controversial remarks about fellow senior artists and shared her views on professionalism in the entertainment industry.

Firdous Jamal recently faced backlash after making critical comments about several legendary artists during a podcast interview.

He reportedly described Talat Hussain’s productions as “rarely inspiring” and referred to Abid Ali as a selfish “type actor,” sparking criticism across the industry.

Speaking on the show, Jabeen said, “Your nature and concern for others can either elevate or destroy you. These qualities are what make someone a good person in the eyes of God.”

She added, “I do not work with him. Never will. I never got along with him.”

The actor explained that while Jamal is undoubtedly talented, “being a good person and being a good actor are two separate things.”

Recalling her own experience working with him, she shared, “The last time I worked with him, I said my goodbyes.”

Jabeen also spoke about comments Jamal allegedly made about women in her presence.

Defending the senior artists criticised by Jamal, Jabeen said every veteran actor has earned their reputation through years of dedication and hard work.

Referring specifically to Talat Hussain, she stated, “The legacy of Talat Hussain cannot be recreated.”

She also praised Abid Ali, saying, “I worked with Abid Ali saab in private productions, and he was a very down-to-earth person.”

Recalling their time working together, she said, “We worked in Gwadar for six months, and I never once saw him behave disrespectfully. I have worked with him since the PTV days.”

“Even when I complained about someone else, he would simply say, ‘Shaista, these things happen — do not stress over them,’” she added.

Jabeen further shared that she prefers focusing on her personal life and work rather than industry politics.

She also criticised the attitude of some younger actors on set and stressed the importance of learning from seniors.

“I have seen some younger artists who genuinely seek guidance from senior actors. Whenever I feel something can be improved, I share advice based on my experience. Sometimes they appreciate it, sometimes they do not,” she said.
