LAHORE (APP) - Lahore Arts Council Alhamra on Tuesday announced a grand revival of quality commercial theatre under the patronage of the Punjab Information and Culture Department, aimed at restoring meaningful stage entertainment and promoting family-oriented theatrical productions rooted in cultural values and artistic excellence.
According to a press release, the initiative seeks to rebuild Pakistan’s theatrical identity by introducing script-based productions focused on creativity, intellectual engagement and socially responsible entertainment while preserving the dignity of the country’s cultural heritage.
As part of the revival project, Alhamra has invited actors, comedians, scriptwriters, directors and technical production professionals to join its grand production team. Fresh talent as well as experienced theatre practitioners have been encouraged to participate in the initiative designed to usher in a new era of sophisticated stage productions blending humour, creativity and powerful storytelling.
Applicants have been asked to submit professional profiles, recent photographs and performance samples, including acting or comedy video clips, scripts or creative portfolios, according to their field of expertise. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2026, while auditions and related activities will be held at the historic Alhamra Arts Center.
Executive Director Alhamra Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said the institution was committed to restoring the prestige of commercial theatre by introducing productions reflecting intelligence, creativity, cultural refinement and positive entertainment.
